10:00 AM - Area 88 (Acts 1 & 2)
Ever get so wasted with your friends that you inadvertently sign a private military contract and end up fighting a war in the Middle East as a fighter pilot? I hate it when that happens. Let Area 88 be your warning to not overdo it this weekend! If you ever wished there was blood in GI Joe: A Real American Hero and nobody ejected when the planes exploded, consider your wish GRANTED.

12:00 PM - Macross Plus (1 & 2)
Don’t let the “Macross” in the title scare you off because you’ve never seen the other ones or didn’t really care for what you saw. This one, from the makers of Cowboy Bebop, is only four episodes long and you don’t need to know ANYTHING about Macross in order to understand it! This is a cartoon about jet planes that fly in space, transform into robots, and fire swarms of missiles. Translation: one of the single greatest anime of all time.

2:00 PM - Dirty Pair: Project Eden
Kei and Yuri are known as the Lovely Angels…to themselves. Everywhere else they’re known as the Dirty Pair because of the path of destruction they leave behind. This is their best adventure ever and features a sly thief with a taste for fine wine, a mad scientist with an awesome theme song, and (FOR THE LADIES) a butler. This is like Noir, Madlax, Kiddy Grade, etc…only TOTALLY AMAZING.

3:30 PM – Patilliro! (Episodes 1 & 2)
Clarissa never sent us a description of this, BUT…this is a cartoon about a bunch of dudes who are way, WAY too into King Patalliro du Malyner VIII of Malynera. Did we mention Patalliro is like…10? Wacky hijinks, and pretty boys, abound. And abound and abound…this series has been going on for over 30 years!

4:30 PM – Twilight Q
Clarissa never sent us a description of this one, too, BUT…ever wonder what would happen if there was an anime version of The Twilight Zone? And it was made by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Sky Crawlers)? Consider this paranormal detective story about vanishing aircraft the answer. There was another episode of this made, but that one sucked. This is the good one.

5:00 PM - Trava: Fist Planet
The protege of Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Cyber City Oedo), Takeshi Koike (Animatrix: World Record) made his feature film debut with Redline, one of the most ambitious pieces of animation ever done that’s set for release in the US later this year. But he couldn’t have done that without making this this direct-to-DVD prequel side story first. It isn’t as high-budget as the movie it inspired, but it’s just as stylish and funny. See where the race begins!
