Main Events is where you’ll see all the key events at Florida Anime Experience: Celebrity Q&A Sessions, Costume Contests, and more!  Please note that (like all conventions) the schedule is subject to change.  Any changes will be posted at the convention.


FRIDAY

10:45 AM, Fairy Tale (Episodes 1-3) – MAIN EVENTS
TV-14. Dubbed. When four young Fairy Tail members unite, their bond is forged by a power found in neither muscle nor magic and grows stronger with every mission. Whatever you do, don’t mess with these friends or you’ll get a taste of Natsu’s flaming fist or Gray’s ice hammer, suffer a painful blow from one of Lucy’s celestial spirits or catch the edge of Erza’s mighty blade! Whether they’re stopping demons from devastating the world or wrestling in the mess hall, this mystical team manages to inflict as much damage to their rivals as they do to the surrounding area!

How well do you know anime theme music? Come participate in Anime Name That Tune! Anyone can play! Be prepared for opening themes! Closing Themes! Those dastardly insert songs that you’d only recognize if you actually watched the show! Prizes will be awarded as well. (90 Minutes)

1:30 PM, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Episodes 1-3) – MAIN EVENTS
TV-14. Subbed. Edward and Alphonse Elric’s reckless disregard for alchemy’s fundamental laws ripped half of Ed’s limbs from his body and left Al’s soul clinging to a cold suit of armor. To restore what was lost, the brothers scour a war-torn land for the Philosopher’s Stone, a fabled relic which grants the ability to perform alchemy in impossible ways.

3:00 PM, Japan Stories! with Steve Bennett – MAIN EVENTS
Steve was born at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan. He later moved to the States, but in December, 2008, Steve and his wife Nikki moved back to Japan and only recently returned. Join Steve for an hour of tall tales and colorful adventures from his time living in the land of otaku.

This is the part of the convention where we say hi, answer questions, point out highlights, and give away free stuff. That’s right: FREE STUFF. Swing by and help us kick of Florida Anime Experience YEAR 6!

5:00 PM, Q&A with Kate Oxley: voice of Akane from Psycho-Pass! – MAIN EVENTS
Kate Oxley is best known for her roles in movies and series such as Psycho-Pass (Akane Tsunemori), Darker Than Black (Misaki Kirihara), Shin-Chan (Lollipop), Dragon Ball (Pasta), One Piece (Carrot), Negima (Makie Sasaki), Peach Girl (Momo Adachi), and Full Metal Alchemist (Catherine Elle Armstrong). Join her for this Q&A about her work in anime and entertainment!

6:00 PM, Caitlin Glass Q&A – MAIN EVENTS
Voice actress and ADR director Caitlin Glass (Winry in FMA, Haruhi in Ouran) answers all your burning questions about voice acting, directing, singing, fandom, nerdiness and just generally whatever you want! Come bring your Q’s and she’ll provide the A’s… and often, free schwag, too!

7:00 PM, Noise Complaint Presents: A Night of Anime Tap Dance! – MAIN EVENTS
Noise Complaint is a group of professional tap dancers who perform full sets of choreographed dances as characters from your favorite Anime shows and video games. Noise Complaint’s dances are choreographed using music that is either directly taken from or inspired by currently trending or favorite Anime and Video Games. For this show, these awesome dancers will tell stories from the worlds of Fairy Tail and Sailor Moon through classical and rhythmic tap dance choreography, incidental improv acting and hilarious antics. This is surely a fan-favorite show that shouldn’t be missed!

8:30 PM, Japanese Super Smash Bros. Wii U Tournament – MAIN EVENTS
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to WIN against other Super Smash Bros. Dairantō Smash Brothers players? The game’s the same – but slightly different; just enough to make it more challenging. Player slots are limited to 32 (with a standby list – time pending) and a $100 Cash Prize goes to the winner! 11:30 PM, Psycho-Pass (Episodes 1-2) – MAIN EVENTS
TV-MA. Dubbed. In the future, even just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty – and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don’t cross the fine line between good and evil. The great equalizer in the war against thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the probability that a citizen will turn criminal. There are no trials. Only Enforcers, Inspectors, and the Dominator. Commit a crime in your mind – and the Dominator will make sure you pay the ultimate price.

TV-14. Maka is a Meister and Soul is her Weapon. As students at the Grim Reaper’s Death Weapon Meister Academy, their study habits couldn’t be more different. But in battle against the supernatural forces of evil, they’re a freakin’ lethal team. That’s when Soul transforms literally into a razor-sharp scythe, and every defeated wicked soul he sucks down makes him more deadly. That’s when Maka unleashes the merciless slayer within, wielding her partner and dropping monsters.

Do you know your anime? Well come show your skills at this scene it inspired game show that’s all about anime! 4 teams of 4 will compete against each other in an extreme competition that test their knowledge on everything anime. So come and try to win for prizes, for glory, and the chance to call yourself the biggest anime nerd there is!

12:00 PM, So You Think You Can Voice Act? (with Caitlin Glass) – MAIN EVENTS
Fancy yourself a voice actor? Come test your skills against other hopefuls at this interactive panel. Join voice actress and ADR director Caitlin Glass as she walks you through the audition process using real audition material from some of your favorite titles. Learn what to do and what not to do in an audition situation and get great tips!

1:00 PM, Cositivity: Keeping the play in Cosplay! – MAIN EVENTS
AmazonMandy holds an open discussion about navigating the sometimes complex social dynamics of cosplay. Talk about your own experiences, why people slander others, how to deal with it, and how to make the entire community a better place!

3:00 PM, Demonstration of Traditional & Modern Japanese Martial Arts – MAIN EVENTS
Join Metro Orlando Judo Kai for a live presentation on stage featuring demonstrations of Bujutsu, the Classical Japanese Martial Arts, as well as a demonstration of Bujutsu’s successor forms known as Gendai Budo, or Modern Martial Arts. The focus of the Gendai Budo demonstrations will be on the modern Martial Art and Olympic Sport of Kodokan Judo. Techniques of ancient Japanese combat, with and without weapons, will be demonstrated and explained, followed by a demonstration of techniques used in modern combat sports such as Judo. Metro Orlando Judo Kai is a Florida not for profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of Kodokan Judo as well as education, sports, and culture. Metro Orlando Judo Kai has a well established relationship with the Tokai University Judo program, which is the number one ranked university Judo program in Japan, and who has produced some of the world’s greatest Judo competitors. Metro Orlando Judo Kai has an international array of instructors coming from Japan, Korea, Europe, the Middle East, Brazil, and of course the USA. Metro Orlando Judo Kai operates their program out of the USA Wrestling Southeast Regional Training Center, which is an official training center for the US Olympic Wrestling program.

4:30 PM, Anime Industry Roundtable (Featuring the Guests of FAE 2016) – MAIN EVENTS
This is *the* panel to see at this year’s FAE! We have put together an ADR Director (Caitlin Glass), Animator (Steve Bennett), Distributor (Robert Woodhead), and Voice Actor (Kate Oxley) in a roundtable Q&A presentation about working in the various facets of the anime industry. Bring your questions!

5:30 PM, Otaku no Video presentation (w/ Intro from Robert Woodhead) – MAIN EVENTS
Join Robert Woodhead from AnimEigo as he talks about the history of this seminal anime OVA – from its inception in Japan to the most recent process of remastering it for U.S. release via Kickstarter. Video is PG-13. Somewhat based on the real story of how Gainax was founded, Otaku no Video addresses all aspects of an otaku lifestyle. Ken Kubo is a young man living an average life until he is dragged into a group of otaku. Slowly, he becomes more like them until he decides to abandon his former life to become king of otaku—the otaking! (2 Hours)

8:00 PM, Costume Contest – MAIN EVENTS
The Florida Anime Experience Costume Contest is a chance for costume enthusiasts to show off their hard work and passion for dressing up like popular anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture inspired characters. 9:00 PM, Noise Complaint Live (During the Costume Contest) – MAIN EVENTS
What better way to pass the time while the Costume Contest judges deliberate than with a performance from cosplay dance troupe Noise Complaint! Enjoy an encore presentation of this high energy stage presentation that will convince you that, too, can dance in your favorite cosplay.

10:30 PM, Nerdy Karaoke – MAIN EVENTS
[Content of a mature nature; Parental discretion is advised.] Karaoke (カラオケ) is a form of interactive entertainment or video game in which an amateur singer sings along with recorded music (a music video) using a microphone and public address system. In Japan – American pop songs are EXTREMELY popular in Karaoke Bars since it gives people a chance to practice English. SO – we’re hauling Nerdy Karaoke (from The Geek Easy in Winter Park) onto our stage at Florida Anime Experience again this year! This event will feature a cash bar.


SUNDAY

10:00 AM, Sailor Moon (Episodes 1-2) – MAIN EVENTS
TV-PG. Dubbed. Usagi Tsukino is a cheerful 14-year-old schoolgirl who often finds herself in unwanted trouble. One day, she saves a talking cat named Luna from some mean kids, and her life is changed forever. Luna gives Usagi a magic brooch that transforms her into Sailor Moon, guardian of love and justice! Now Usagi must work with Luna to find the other Sailor Guardians and the Moon Princess, whose Legendary Silver Crystal is Earth’s only hope against the dark forces of the evil Queen Beryl!

3:00 PM, Kickstarting Anime with AnimEigo – MAIN EVENTS
Join AnimEigo co-founder Robert Woodhead for this discussion about the successful connection between Kickstarter and anime! Robert has helped bring classic titles like Bubblegum Crisis and Otaku no Video to Blu-ray via crowdfunding, and is currently working on doing the same with the popular title Riding Bean. This is a rare opportunity to learn about the “behind the scenes” for fans of crowdfunding and the anime industry!

4:00 PM, Tentacle Chris’s Excellent Charity Auction (Benefiting Toys For Tots) – MAIN EVENTS
“Tentacle” Chris Duplis loves Christmas… so much so that he thinks about it all year long. In 2015, he started a personal mission to raise money and toys for Toy For Tots to help spread holiday cheer in Central Florida and raised almost $3500 in donations. Well, this year we’re helping him kick things off early by hosting a charity auction at the convention as he tries to DOUBLE THAT AMOUNT! (That’s right, folks: $7000.)
