The Orlando Gay Chorus is a member of GALA Choruses, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization serving the GLBT choral movement. Founded in 1982 by fourteen choruses, GALA Choruses has become the leading international association of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender choruses. The mission of GALA Choruses is inspiring and strengthening member choruses to change their worlds through song. By fostering the artistic and organizational development of member choruses through a wide variety of programs and services, GALA Choruses produces choral festivals, educational conferences and several publications. It engages in advocacy; provides grants for the commissioning of new choral works; facilitates networking within the Association; and serve as a resource center for choruses and individual Associates from around the world. GALA Choruses supports more than 190 choruses, representing 7500+ performers singing to audiences totaling more than one million individuals.

Come one, come all and come horribly dressed! It’s the “Inaugural WTF Are You Wearing Costume Contest” to be held during the Panel About Nothing.  There’s only one rule: Scour Wal-Mart, K-Mart, S-Mart, thrift stores and/or back alleys to dig up the most obnoxious wildlife t-shirt you can find. Shirts featuring wolves are, of course, given special consideration.  Wolves howling and firing shotguns at the moon while riding on buffalos who are, themselves, driving motorcycles are given “amazing” prizes!!!  As are all the other entrants Anime Angie and Tentacle Chris deem worth-ily wild life-y enough.  Be bold, wear your airbrushed love with pride and go home with some awesome junk!

Green Mustard Entertainment (aka “Wasabi Anime”) is hosting a reception at Florida Anime Experience 2013 for fellow convention runners.  The reception will take place Friday night of the convention (May 24^th) at 8:00 PM in the Manga Library (Citrus C Room) at the International Palms Resort and Conference Center.

The goal of the reception is simple: get Florida’s fan conventions talking!  There are a number of events in the Sunshine State and clear communication only helps to serve the community by creating regular relationships among events and shows to support fandom.  We’re happy to provide an informal environment at our convention for event runners to meet, mingle, and get to know one another.

THE RULES

1. Pre-judging takes place the afternoon of the competition/show. You MUST be at the pre-judging (which doubles as a rehearsal) to qualify and perform that evening in the main show. Depending on the number of entrants, not everyone may be allowed to perform.
2. You will be notified before leaving the pre-judging if you are scheduled to perform in the main show and you will also be told what time to arrive to set up for the show. If you are LATE for the show then your performance will be cut. No exceptions.
3. The show is designed to be viewed by a general audience – so please make sure that your performance does not exceed a “PG-13″ rating.
4. No nudity… at all.
5. All costumes/characters used must be of Japanese origin (anime, video game, manga, etc). Example: Mario singing “Jail House Rock” is fine. Pinkie Pie singing “Popular” is not.
6. Keep props to a minimum. The more complicated your number is for us to get you on and off stage – the better your chance of NOT being picked for the show. Please keep it simple.
7. Songs must be from either a stage musical or must be PERFORMED in a movie or television musical. For example: “You Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” from Top Gun is okay since it was performed in the movie while “Danger Zone” from the same film is not. If you are not sure about your choice of song, merely email Cosplay@FloridaAnime.com and ask. We’re here to help!
8. It is recommended that your selected song not exceed five minutes. If you have a song that DOES exceed the recommended time limit, we suggest you email us at Cosplay@FloridaAnime.com for approval – just to be safe.
9. Inappropriate behavior leading up to, before, or during the convention and/or show can lead to disqualification of your performance.
10. Wasabi Anime and Florida Anime Experience reserve the right to amend the rules at any time.

SCHEDULE

PRE-JUDGING will take place from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM in Friday in Chibi Events.
CALL TIME for talent/performers (who made it through pre-judging) is 6:30 PM (the same day) n Main Events.
THE MAIN SHOW is at 7:00 PM in Main Events on Friday.
