Costume Contest

What’s an anime convention without a costume contest?  Attendees are encouraged to dress up and show off their best creations at Florida Anime Experience 2012.  There are a limited number of slots and registration is on site only – so be sure to sign up starting Friday at the convention!

The costume contest is based on your costume’s presentation.  It is not a “performance” contest.  Please check out Animusical Idol and the Cosplay Contest for details.

NOTE: In honor of our Guest of Honor this year, we will have a “Best Sailor Scout” category in this year’s costume contest.  Good luck!

Saturday morning.  Location and times TBD.

CONTEST
Saturday in Main Events.  Time TBD.

COSTUME CONTEST RULES

  1. Each entrant must have be a registered attendee of Florida Anime Experience 2012 in order to enter and be present on stage for the costume contest.
  2. The Florida Anime Experience 2012 Costume Contest is a family oriented event.  Please keep all costumes to a “PG-13″ rating (i.e. no nudity or excessively revealing costumes.)
  3. Store bought costumes are not permitted. While elements of a costume may be purchased, the costume as a whole should be an original creation and not “off the shelf.”  Any purchased elements should be disclosed during pre-judging.
  4. If an entrant is not the seamstress/tailor (creator) of the costume and is merely wearing it for presentation, this should be disclosed during pre-judging.  The costume’s creator must be present in order to win.
  5. All weapons and props must conform with Florida Anime Experience 2012 rules, convention center policies and local laws regarding concerning carrying a weapon. If in doubt, don’t bring it.
  6. Each entrant should provide at least one (1) reference photo of the character being portrayed by the costume. Florida Anime Experience 2012 cannot guarantee that the judges will know what every character looks like, so having a visual reference will help everyone involved!
  7. All characters must be from an anime, manga, Asian origin video game or live action anime/manga/video game based franchise. Asian adaptations of Western franchises can be permitted, but please check with the contest coordinator before entering. No sure about your costume? Email cosplay@floridaanime.com.
  8. Florida Anime Experience 2012 reserves the right to modify, update, or amend the rules at any time… just in case.
