THANK YOU for an amazing Florida Anime Experience 2015

An anime convention is a celebration.  It’s a gathering of fans for the purpose of sharing passion and excitement over the love of Japanese popular culture.

A celebration.  A gathering.

If you were there, you saw first hand that Florida Anime Experience was our largest event since our inception five years ago.  We had some growing pains due to the new property and influx of attendees (especially Saturday afternoon) – but, in the end, Florida Anime Experience 2015 was a bona fide success.  Our attendance was the highest (which we allowed for with our new property) and our programming was the greatest number of hours we’ve ever provided.

People make Florida Anime Experience happen: attendees, guests, featured talent, staff… and we have so many of them to thank this year:

As of this writing, we’re still sorting through registration forms and reports.  We can say that our pre-registration numbers were up 68% this year and our hotel block was TWICE what it was last year.  Our attendance increase was also significant and we’ll announce that later.

For now, though, THANK YOU to everyone who attended this year.  You helped make the move to the new property an amazing experience for us.

Thanks to Brina, Tiffany, Trina, and Spike for helping us celebrate our love for Neon Genesis Evangelion this year.  You were all epic talent representing an epic anime.

Our programming this year was the best it’s ever been thanks to the Anime 3000 Network, Anime Addicts Anonymous Podcast, Al Aki, Anime America Podcast, Anime World Order, Black Star Anime, the Central Florida Bonsai Club, Dream Fantasy Theatre, Gundamn! Podcast, JETAA Florida, Nerdy Karaoke, Noise Complaint, Orange Anime, the Orlando Kendo Club, SSAA Podcast, and S.S. Hanami.  From panels to concerts to late night singing in Chibi Events, this year’s Featured Talent helped make the attendee experience unforgettable.  Thanks to each and every one of you for being a part of this.

2015 was our “NASCAR year” when it came to sponsorships.  We were humbled by the outpouring of support by so many great local and international businesses who helped us to bring focus to the “culture in pop culture” for Japanese animation conventions.  Thank you AnimEigo, Aniplex USA, Coliseum of Comics, CosConTV, FUNimation, the Geek Easy, Glico USA, Guidebook, the Kissimmee Convention and Visitors Bureau, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, Manga Entertainment, Momocon, Orlando Weekly, Stone Bridge Press, Sus HI Eatstation, and

This year’s operation was especially challenging on two fronts.  First, two key staff members weren’t able to join us this year because one of them “contracted a mild case of pregnancy.”  We expect her to recover from it this fall and welcome them and a new third staff member back to Florida Anime Experience 2016.

Secondly, we were on a new property which is always a learning experience.  The team stepped up to the challenge, though, and provided a safe and fun experience for all of our staff.  THANK YOU: Angie, the other Angie, Annie, Allen, Ariel, Cassie, Chance, Chris, Francis, Greg, Jason, Jessica, Jo, John, the other John, Kaitlyn, Kaleb, Kate, Kelly, Lyn, Mike, Myna, Russell, Ryan, Samantha, Shannon, Savanna. Scott, Susan. Ted, and Tracy.

We’ll announce dates and location information shortly.  For now, the staff is getting some much needed rest before starting up production again.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and helped with this year’s event.  You are all amazing.
